Mandate
RIPA – rencontre interuniversitaire de performance actuelle – is an annual non-profit performance event run by student volunteers. Our aim is to promote emerging performative practices from the Quebec university network and its neighbouring areas. Since 2012, RIPA has contributed to the development of Quebec’s performance networks by fostering exchanges between students, audiences, and the art community.
Based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal, the event proposes a unique and accessible platform to present contemporary performance art in all of its diversity. The event unfolds in two complementary components: a performance evening and a round table. Together, they generate collective experiences and reflections that crystallize within a subsequent publication. RIPA acts as a laboratory, both practical and theoretical, and seeks to establish contacts between emerging and established communities. In a desire to experiment, its formula and team are renewed with each edition.
