RIPA - Rencontre Interuniversitaire de Performance Actuelle - is an annual non-profit event dedicated to the promotion of emerging performance practices in Quebec. Its mission is to create spaces for experimentation and visibility for the artists it hosts. Held for the past 12 years at Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, RIPA plays a major role in the development of performance art networks, fostering exchanges between emerging and established artistic communities as well as the general public.
Advocating for the inclusion and presentation of performance art based practices in all their forms, RIPA proposes an evening of performance, sometimes followed by a round table. Together they generate collective experiences and reflections that are crystallized in a subsequent publication.
In keeping with RIPA's desire to be a space for experimentation, its internal team varies from year to year, making changes in what is presented and the ways in which it is done.
